Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician Specialist assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining accurate records. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmacy operations, sterile compounding techniques, and a commitment to patient safety. The Pharmacy Technician Specialist may also be involved in training and mentoring other pharmacy technicians.

Major Responsibility:

- Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently.
- Perform sterile product compounding in accordance with USP < 797> standards.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate inventory and records.
- Assist in training and mentoring other pharmacy technicians.
- Prepare medications for dispensing, including counting, measuring, and labeling.
- Compound sterile products, including IV admixtures, using aseptic technique.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, including compounding devices and automated dispensing systems.
- Receive and process prescriptions, verifying accuracy and completeness.
- Answer phone calls and address patient inquiries.
- Maintain inventory levels and order medications and supplies.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and prior authorization processes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Train and mentor new pharmacy technicians.
- Assist pharmacists with clinical activities as needed.

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Graduate / GED
• (CPhT) Certified Pharmacy Technician, or (PharmTech) Pharmacy Technician License
