About the Role

In this exciting role as a test engineer, your responsibilities will include developing and implementing test strategies related to wireless insulin therapy systems. Your responsibilities will include defining methods required to ensure products are reliable, safe, and effective for their intended use. You will partner with project leads to generate larger program schedules and collaborate with large cross functional teams to develop new products, support sustaining engineering efforts, and expand global access to MiniMed products via compliance testing.

This will be a hybrid role that is required to be onsite during testing and test planning to collaborate with engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Develop test strategies activities associated with a family of insulin therapy systems used by individuals to effectively manage Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
• Create EMC and RF test strategies for new product development
• Interpret data provided by a broad spectrum of lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power amplifiers, environmental chambers, and similar.
• Collaborate cross functionally across R&D functions and provide assessments with standards and global regulatory teams to expand global availability of MiniMed systems around the world.
• Lead discussions with key functions (Electrical Engineering, Software R&D, Systems Engineering) to develop robust wireless communication systems
• Review and contribute to risk management deliverables like failure modes effects analysis (dFMEA/pFMEA) and identify potential patient hazards.
• Demonstrate exceptional communication and technical writing skills while collaborating with large cross-functional teams (R&D, Ops, Regulatory, Quality).
• Promote growth within the R&D Test team as a subject matter expert in RF testing and EMC.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience collaborating with a team of engineers and non-engineers.
• Experience working on electromechanical systems or medical devices.
• Experience with test method development.
• Ability to travel up to 30% and support testing at external test labs within the U.S.

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with experience or familiarity with EMC and RF Testing
• Experience working in a regulated industry with rigid design and development controls
• Experience with using and interpreting data from measurement and test equipment.
• Experience with Standards and Regulations related to Medical Devices (IEC 60601-1, European Radio Directive, FCC Part 15/18, etc.)
• Ability to communicate technical knowledge to other engineers as part of a large collaborative work environment.
• Ability to develop, utilize, or modify SW tools (written in either LabView, Python, MATLAB)
• Experience with planning and executing formal tests and generating detailed records
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$109,000.00 - $185,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $121,000 - $205,000 USD.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
