Hourly Rate $37.89 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Complies with all craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures. Consistently exceeds Journeyman standards. Troubleshoots advanced electrical systems and circuits such as multiple-function systems. Coordinates with different crafts to complete assigned tasks. Responsible for planning and execution of assigned work. Tests equipment and ensures proper care and safe use of hand and power tools. Works from ship specifications, work orders, and applicable working drawings and blueprints. Researches and prepares written comprehensive condition found reports (CFRs). Conforms to ABS and Coast Guard regulations. Performs work individually, as a member of a single craft, or as part of a multi-craft work crew. Provides coverage of all areas of the Yard as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Communicates effectively, works independently or in a group. Performs basic math operations. Reads, writes, speaks, and comprehends English. Advanced knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory. Power generation, control and distribution. Troubleshoots electrical equipment. Uses test equipment. Reads blueprints and performs advanced layout. Knowledge of electric motors and controls. Grounding and bonding. Identification of cables, size requirements, ampacity limits, and reference sources. Fabricates and installs packing tubes, multiple cable transits, collars, conduit, and raceways. Conduit bending. Interior communications and alarms. Logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED preferred. Four years relevant work experience. Proof of skills, work history, or applicable education considered in lieu of experience. Journey Level 1 Ship Repair Possesses several basic skills with an advanced level of one primary skill and at least one certification. Requires general supervision but can perform A‑1 through A‑3 job duties with little or no supervision. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Four‑hour fire watch certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. HAZWOPER – First Responder Awareness Level. Physical Demands Sitting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling/crawling, stooping, twisting, climbing, balancing, leg/foot use, reaching, handling, gripping, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying. Task requires consistent operation of machine controls and exposure to various sensory demands such as vision, hearing, and, where required, color vision. Interpersonal Contacts Interacts and communicates with others, works independently, may supervise others in line with position level, and performs repetitive work with advanced attention to detail and adaptability. Work Environment Indoor work in some areas exposed to external weather conditions. Outdoor work in all types of weather with required safety equipment.
