Process Engineer
Hunter Crown, LLC
Position Overview Hunter Crown is representing an established environmental infrastructure organization seeking an accomplished Process Engineer to support the design, development, deployment, and optimization of sophisticated industrial water and wastewater treatment systems. This position offers meaningful technical ownership across the full project lifecycle, from early process concepts and engineering calculations through commissioning and operational optimization. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to influence significant capital projects while working directly with technical, commercial, project, and leadership stakeholders. Professional Responsibility and Scope The Process Engineer will assume substantial responsibility for the conceptual and detailed engineering of complex treatment systems. The role includes developing process calculations, mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and other engineering deliverables required to translate process concepts into practical solutions. This individual will also contribute to laboratory and pilot evaluations, develop testing approaches, interpret technical data, and use findings to validate and improve engineered solutions. Responsibility continues into field execution, including system startup, commissioning, operational sampling, technical troubleshooting, and training of customer engineering and operations personnel. Beyond traditional design responsibilities, the Process Engineer will participate in capital equipment evaluations, value engineering, commercial feasibility assessments, and technical decision making. The position requires the ability to analyze operating data, diagnose process performance issues, and recommend improvements for active industrial systems. Travel of up to approximately 25 percent should be expected in support of project deployment and field activities. Location and Lifestyle Context The organization offers flexibility in how the position is structured and will consider remote or hybrid arrangements for appropriately experienced professionals. Candidates interested in being closer to the engineering organization may also have relocation options available. The position supports projects throughout North America with potential exposure to select international assignments, providing technical variety without requiring constant travel. Long Term Professional Growth This opportunity is particularly well suited to an engineer who wants broader ownership than is typically available within highly segmented engineering organizations. Strong performers can expand their influence across process design, applied testing, field execution, operational optimization, and technical leadership. The organizational structure provides experienced engineers with direct exposure to important technical and business decisions. As project experience and organizational impact increase, there is meaningful potential to develop greater technical authority and leadership responsibility. Compensation The anticipated base salary range for this position is approximately $135,000 to $175,000 , depending on experience, technical depth, and overall fit. The compensation structure also includes performance based project incentives along with health, wellness, retirement, and other employee benefits. Relocation assistance may be available when appropriate. Team Environment and Leadership Approach The engineering environment emphasizes technical collaboration, professional autonomy, and direct communication. Engineers work across functional boundaries with project management, commercial teams, field personnel, customers, and organizational leadership rather than operating within narrowly defined technical silos. The successful candidate should be comfortable exercising independent technical judgment while remaining highly collaborative. This environment favors engineers who communicate effectively, take ownership of outcomes, and are comfortable serving as a technical resource to both internal and external stakeholders Organizational Stability and Industry Position The organization operates within the environmental infrastructure sector and delivers engineered systems supporting complex industrial water and wastewater applications. Its project portfolio provides exposure to substantial infrastructure investments and technically diverse operating conditions across multiple markets. The combination of established engineering capabilities, significant project responsibility, and continued activity across North American markets creates an environment where experienced engineers can build durable expertise while contributing directly to customer and project outcomes. Experience and Qualification Summary Qualified candidates should hold a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should bring demonstrated experience with the conceptual design, optimization, startup, or commissioning of industrial water or wastewater treatment processes. Strong candidates will understand physical, chemical, and biological treatment principles and be capable of evaluating variable industrial water characteristics to develop resilient engineered solutions. The position requires strong analytical ability, professional communication skills, independent judgment, and the ability to interact effectively with customers, project managers, commercial stakeholders, and senior leadership. Candidates must also be comfortable traveling up to approximately 25 percent in support of project commissioning and field activities.
