Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education:

• Master's degree in Athletic Training

Preferred Work Experience:

• 4-5 years of athletic training experience, with prior leadership or lead responsibilities preferred

Preferred Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

• Advanced specialty certifications related to Athletic Training or leadership.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Lead Athletic Trainer provides expert athletic training services focused on injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletes and active individuals. This role leads the coordination of athletic training activities, supports program development, and serves as a resource to other athletic trainers to promote safe participation and optimal outcomes. Leads quality improvement initiatives, contributes to program development, and supports strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional standards. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Required Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)-accredited program

Required Work Experience:

• Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a certified athletic trainer providing direct patient care in a clinical, school, or athletic setting.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

• Current Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
• Ohio Athletic Trainer License (must be active and in good standing prior to start date)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be obtained or completed during department orientation)

• Knowledge of injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation techniques

• Guide and support the work of other athletic trainers, providing coaching, mentorship and training.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration within the athletic training team.
• Assist with prioritizing work assignments and resolving day-to-day challenges.
• Contribute input to performance feedback as a peer evaluator when requested.
