Surgical Technologist CVOR

Job Description The CVOR Surgical Technologist performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position reports to a Registered Nurse and to Surgical Services management. What We're Looking For Experienced CVOR Surgical Technologist strongly familiar with cardiovascular operating room procedures. Skilled in supporting complex surgical procedures, maintaining sterile technique, and collaborating with surgeons, nurses, and the entire surgical team. Essential Functions Support system-wide surgical operations and safety plans. Ensure sterilization criteria are met and maintain a sterile, safe environment. Prepare the operating room and instruments, assist with sterile processing, and support surgeons within the ORT scope of practice. Identify and respond to emergency situations, assist with room turnover and cleaning. Participate in training and mentoring, providing at least one educational offering per year. Perform as either a specialty leader or clinical expert: Specialty Leader: oversee specialty areas, coordinate case flow, assignments, and staff training. Clinical Expert: scrub high‑acuity cases, train and mentor caregivers, and assist with new hire orientation. Required Qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers certification. Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program or acceptable alternative as detailed below: Graduated from a non‑accredited surgical tech program within the past six months. Two years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years. On‑the‑job training in a rural hospital. International training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the U.S. Competent in Level III or IV high‑acuity specialty procedures (Robotics, Neuro, CV, Trauma, Transplant, Reimplant, Plastics Craniofacial, Major abdominal general surgery, major ortho trauma) and associated facility case mix. Able to take assigned specialty call in Level II Trauma Facility or Quaternary Center. Must be in good standing with Surgical Services Director Council approval before assignment. Preferred Qualifications At least 2 years experience as a surgical technologist. Proficiency scrubbing into high‑acuity cases such as Neuro, Cardiovascular, Transplant, and Trauma. Active national certification as an OR Technician or Certified Surgical Technologist, obtained within the required timeframe. Physical Requirements Read and interpret information, labels and patient needs; operate monitors and identify equipment. Communicate verbally, hear and understand spoken information and alarms, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity for manipulating delicate equipment, frequent computer use and typing. Lift and transfer patients; handle supplies and equipment up to and including heavy items. Assist with transportation and ambulation of patients, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment. Stand for extended periods as required. Location Intermountain Health, Intermountain Medical Center – Murray, Utah. Pay & Benefits Level III: $32.34 – $49.94 per hour. Level IV: $35.60 – $54.93 per hour.
