PRN Occupational Therapist Assistant

Description The Occupational Therapist Assistant will have the opportunity to connect with and positively impact the lives of our patients daily! You will promote the physical, personal, and emotional well-being of patients and work with the Dover Health teams to strive to reach the ultimate goal, which is to return the patient to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible. Supervision of Occupational therapists, within the Standards of Practice for Occupational Therapy, and in compliance with the applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies. Observe, record, and report the client’s reaction to treatment and any changes in the client’s condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist, physician, Director of Nursing, Administrator and/or Clinical Supervisor as needed and in accordance with agency policies. Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist in updating the plan of care as necessary and promoting coordination of care through interprofessional or interdisciplinary communication in accordance with the agency policies. Educate patients and their families or caregivers about managing patient’s illness or injury, including home care needs, home safety, and use of assistive and adaptive devices. Participate in care coordination and discharge planning activities and acting as a resource to other health care personnel in meeting patient's needs. Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Participate in professional development and lifelong learning activities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand/move, communicate, and identify written information. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently; occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with assistance. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Education And/or Experience Current Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state(s) of practice. Current Basic Life Support/CPR certification. Current and valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current liability auto insurance. Ability to work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative - willing to go above and beyond to ensure our patients needs are met and they are comfortable in their living environment. Self-motivated to accomplish identified goals with a strong sense of accountability for results. Be able to demonstrate proficiency in Internet browsers (e.g., Explorer, Chrome, and Fire Fox), Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word and Publisher, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and any HR related systems if applicable. Working Conditions This position may involve a range of physical activities, including those outlined in the Essential Duties, but is not limited to them. Frequent travel within assigned service area is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time, move, communicate, and identify written information. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds independently, and occasionally lift and/or move up to two hundred (200) pounds with assistance. Work for this position is performed in patient homes, care settings/facilities, and office settings. This position will have to navigate through a variety of different settings to provide care. There is exposure to varied home environments and potential infectious conditions. Must comply with all Dover Health and safety requirements. This role involves actively participating in all staff activities aimed at fostering teamwork, unity, and morale.
