Commissioning Field Engineer - Mechanical- Data Center

Bala Consulting Engineers is hiring a commissioning engineer with data center experience to join a team of on-site commissioning/QA/QC mechanical systems testing engineers. Position Overview This role provides technical oversight of mechanical systems/equipment upgrades and new mechanical systems testing for Fortune 500 clients across the U.S. Projects include data centers, trading floors, broadcast facilities, high‑rise infrastructure, and high‑end offices. Responsibilities Perform commissioning and/or QA/QC testing oversight of mechanical equipment. Manage commissioning and testing projects, including client, internal team, and project financials. Lead projects and write proposals, test scripts, and reports. Mentor and train other commissioning team members. Coordinate invoicing with the Accounting Department. Attend conferences and networking events periodically. Travel nationally as needed to complete commissioning & testing activities at client sites with reimbursement of travel, lodging, car rental, and meals expenses. Qualifications Mid‑level commissioning engineer (7+ years of experience). Data center experience (required). Willingness to travel across the U.S. for extended periods and to work various hours, including days, nights, and weekends. Hands‑on experience with mechanical equipment testing. Military background in mechanical system operation and repair is a plus. Hardworking, well‑motivated engineer with a desire to learn and solve problems. Proficient technical writing skills (proposals, test scripts, and reports) and strong communication skills. Ability to work in office and client sites (new construction and existing facilities) with a driver’s license. Background check & drug screening may be required by client for on‑site projects.
