Safety Coordinator- Manufacturing Facility

Position Summary Safety Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety by developing policies, conducting training, and overseeing compliance with safety regulations. Position Details Tours and inspects smaller, less-complex job sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Reports concerns to safety management. Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system. Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues. Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe. Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs. Reviews daily job hazard logs and takes action as required. Provides emergency response to employees as needed. Documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required. Serves as mentor to less-experienced Safety employees. Assists with development of training materials and coordinates and facilitates employee training as necessary. Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations. Solid verbal and written communication skills. Solid problem-solving skills. Solid customer-service and organizational skills. Solid computer skills—experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet. Solid knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures. Travels 40% of time. Exercises independent judgement and makes decisions as needed. Consults with manager on decisions that significantly impact the company. This role does not supervise or direct other workflow of others. May mentor less-experienced safety roles. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or equivalent experience preferred. Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred. OSHA 10hr and OSHA 30hr training preferred. CHST or ASP certifications preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in related field.
