Registered Nurse Forensic Nurse Examiner

Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence‑based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Shift Details Working hours: 1300 to 0100. Benefits Eligible Eligible for benefits. The role comprises three 12‑hour shifts with differentials for evenings, nights and weekends. Essential Functions Assessment: Perform appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate. Seek and evaluate information acquired from interdisciplinary team members. Plan: Use assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop an individualized plan of care. Actively involve patient, family, team, and physician in care planning, including education and referrals. Implement: Direct the interdisciplinary care team through delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan, guidelines, and licensure. Set priorities and manage time, supplies, and resources efficiently. Evaluate: Assess patient response to interventions by reviewing goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction. Revise and re‑assess the plan as indicated. Professionalism: Promote the nursing profession, integrate legal and ethical standards, comply with regulatory requirements, practice within scope of licensure, provide accurate documentation, and understand the legal implications of care delivery. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment. RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of hire date. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. BSN is required as of the job description’s last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted before this date will be held to the minimum requirements in place at that time. Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see and read information, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent verbal communication. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision. Lift and transfer patients, lift up to heavy items, and navigate crowded environments. Stand for extended periods may be required. Driving responsibilities, if applicable, require safe operation of a vehicle. Location and Salary Saint Joseph Hospital, Denver, Colorado. Scheduled weekly hours: 36. Hourly rate: $37.17 – $56.17.
