Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

• Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities based on patient age and symptoms.
• Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and intervene as necessary.
• Develop and implement measurable and individualized care plans for patients.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on patient outcomes and modify care plans accordingly.
• Participate in health education and discharge planning for patients and their significant others.
• Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
• Utilize effective communication strategies for achieving intended outcomes.
• Delegate unit work assignments appropriately to ensure quality patient care.
• Coordinate team assignments and adjust based on patient and unit needs.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
• BLS Certification required.
• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to patient population served.
• Communicate clearly and concisely with sensitivity to patients' rights.
