Ruder Electric of The State Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator based in Kankakee, Illinois . Ruder Electric Inc., established in 1995, delivers a full range of electrical contracting services with efficient execution and competitive pricing. This position reports directly to the Senior Regional Safety Manager and is a trusted advisor and field resource, supporting large-scale construction projects through proactive safety leadership, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives that help keep our people safe every day.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Serve as a key safety contact for customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies on job sites.
• Conduct and document inspections and incident investigations in a timely and accurate manner.
• Perform safety audits of work practices, housekeeping, equipment, and materials.
• Track audit findings, inspections, and corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA, EPA, COR, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
• Report safety concerns, risks, and non-compliance issues to Safety Management and Operations leadership.
• Take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or behaviors, including coaching personnel and isolating equipment when required.
• Promote a strong safety culture through accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM

• Bachelors degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience and certifications.
• At least 5+ years of safety experience in the construction industry.
• Intermediate knowledge with Excel, safety recordkeeping, safety software, and training databases.
• Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills.
• CSP or CHST certification preferred.
