Position Overview TPG Marinas – Noank Shipyard is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for boats and strong mechanical aptitude. As a Marine Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of all types of marine engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and related equipment. A strong work ethic and desire to advance will provide opportunities to earn certifications through our organization. This position is currently accepting applications. Responsibilities Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on all types of marine engines, including outboards and inboards. Use a variety of hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance. Communicate with boat owners and other team members to ensure that repairs are completed correctly and in a timely manner. Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines (inboard-outboard) for service/warranty purposes. Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove, and install systems and components. Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job, including acknowledging the budgeted time vs actual time. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used, time spent, and any additional repairs needed. Source/research parts needed or tasks. Have overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing and water systems. Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to electrical, electronics, plumbing and water systems (fresh, salt and waste), gas and diesel engines. Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels and work orders. Promote company products and services to meet customer needs. Promptly provide the service department with repair orders for filing and recording. Possess own tools. Follow TPG Safety and Environmental rules and complete required training. Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. Perform any other duties as assigned by TPG Marinas and the direct manager. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Technical school training (preferred). Five years' experience (preferred). ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications (preferred). Technical outboard training/experience (a plus). Must carry own tools. Maintain training credentials. Must have a valid driver's license. Basic boat handling skills (preferred). Experience with both gas and diesel engines (preferred). Ability to work on-site at Noank Shipyard. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods; may kneel, stoop, bend, twist in tight areas; comfortable with ladders and confined spaces; work in the elements regularly; repetitive hand motions and reaching above, in front and below shoulder level.
