Materials ManagerStored Energy Systems (SENS) is an award-winning manufacturer of premium quality power conversion products located in Longmont, CO. In business for over 50 years, SENS is the market leader with a proven track record of providing highly reliable battery chargers, DC power systems, and related products to industrial markets.The Materials Manager leads and develops the purchasing team and oversees all aspects of SENS's materials operations. This role ensures the effective execution of the material plan, maintaining uninterrupted production flow, and supporting on time customer shipments. The manager is responsible for ensuring accurate purchasing methods and MRP data, strengthening supply chain resilience, reducing material costs, and driving high inventory turns across a diverse portfolio of more than 2,000 stocked components, including electronic components, PCB assemblies, custom sheet metal, castings, cable assemblies, breakers, and other specialized materials.The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to stay ahead of economic, industrial, and market trends that influence pricing, availability, and risk.ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop the purchasing staff to ensure high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Establish clear goals, KPIs, and development plans for team members to improve performance on cost, supplier quality, and inventory velocity.Assist Strategic Sourcing team to develop and maintain a robust supplier base that supports quality, cost, delivery, and innovation goals. Negotiate pricing, terms, and long-term agreements. Monitor supplier performance and lead corrective actions when needed.Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Production, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Sourcing. Act as escalation point for team with vendors and when problems arise.Ensure accurate execution of the material plan from purchasing, warehouse, and shipping teams to support uninterrupted production and on-time shipments. Maintain optimal inventory levels that balance availability, cash flow, and inventory turnover.Analyze and update part usage planning models in MRP system (Infor Syteline). Maintain lead times, safety stocks, demand variability, and other critical procurement drivers to support accurate purchasing decisions and processes.Implement best practices in procurement processes, documentation, and workflow standardization.Execute and evolve the material strategy, focusing on resilience, diversify and enhance supplier collaboration, improve quality, and shorten lead times. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for efficiency gains.Support with budgeting, forecasting, and cost-reduction initiatives.Problem solve and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and execution of LEAN principles.Required Qualifications3+ years of experience in procurement management and/or supply chain management.Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related field OR an additional 4 years of experience in direct Supply Chain Management roles.Experience with MRP systems (reporting, structuring data, understanding how systems function).Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated success leading teams in a manufacturing environment.Excellent people skills capable of clearly setting and communicating goals, coaching, and developing staff members.Excellent cross-functional communication skills. Strong ability to understand and execute multifaceted systems.Knowledge of lean principles, inventory optimization, and cost reduction methodologies.Experience working with contract manufacturers, electronic components, and manufacturing environments.Microsoft Office and strong Microsoft Excel ability.Preferred experience with electronics manufacturing or complex assemblies, and certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or PMP.Location: This position is located onsite in Longmont, CO.Base Compensation: $116,000 - $142,000 is the projected base salary range and will be determined by the candidate's overall qualifications and experience.Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Closing Date: September 20th.
