Job Overview The Fleet Manager reports to the Fleet Director | Cruise Retail and is responsible for overseeing the marketing, sales, performance, and overall execution of Effy's onboard retail operations across assigned cruise lines. The Fleet Manager blends 40% sailing with 60% remote fleet coaching while independently leading day-to-day execution remotely between voyages. This role ensures excellence in revenue generation, team development, and brand representation onboard while maintaining close collaboration with Cruise Line partners and the HQ leadership team. Unlike the Associate Fleet Manager, who learns the role under guidance across 1–2 ships, the Fleet Manager independently owns a full slate of assigned ships — carrying full accountability for coaching, manning decisions, operational execution, and revenue-driving strategy across the entire fleet. Key Responsibilities Coaching & Leadership Development Lead by example across the fleet — setting the standard for Effy discipline, event execution, selling behaviors, and leadership communication. Coach onboard teams remotely and in person, driving performance discipline, leadership maturity, accountability, and guest-experience excellence. Conduct follow-up coaching after daily/weekly calls, ensuring clarity on expectations and accountability for next steps. Conduct structured development sessions with Supervisors/Managers, owning their coaching plans end-to-end. Assess leadership styles, team dynamics, and sales behaviors across ships, acting directly on findings and setting fleet-wide standards. Reinforce Effy culture, coaching frameworks, and professional maturity behaviors across the assigned fleet. Ship Oversight & Execution Support Begin overseeing 3 or more assigned ships. Oversee all onboard operations across assigned vessels ensuring alignment with Effy standards and Cruise Line expectations. Ensure all marketing, promotions, and training programs are executed consistently and effectively across the fleet. Partner with Cruise Line and concession counterparts to ensure smooth operations, aligned communication, and strong brand representation. Review daily revenue, pacing, and trends — identifying opportunities and communicating required actions. Manage all shipboard team communication including WhatsApp and Teams groups to ensure continuous updates, performance visibility, and engagement. Partner with the Creative and Marketing Teams to develop event scripts, onboard signage, and seasonal or holiday promotions. Serve as the first line of contact for performance issues, conflict management, or urgent escalations from onboard leadership. Manning, Interviewing & Talent Development Own the end-to-end manning process: rotations, pipeline readiness, and matching talent to ships. Conduct interviews and hold final hiring authority for onboard team members. Collaborate with the Manning and Operations teams to manage rotations, onboarding, and personnel changes ensuring optimal staffing. Assess leadership potential and team dynamics to inform promotion and development decisions. Resolve staffing challenges, red flags, and performance gaps directly, escalating only when additional support is required. Revenue Trends, Reporting & Analysis Conduct daily and weekly revenue reviews, identify trends, and develop corrective action plans for underperforming ships. Use PowerBi to track & coach all ship data. Review and approve voyage-end marketing reports, extracting best practices and improvement opportunities. Participate in weekly and bi-weekly strategy meetings with Fleet Directors, AVPs, and Cruise Line management. Fleet Managers operate as fully integrated members of Effy's Cruise Retail ecosystem, maintaining the following standards to ensure continued readiness and consistency in leadership execution. Maintain full access and working fluency across all operational tools: Effy email, WhatsApp groups, Teams, HQ email groups, and EOV. Stay aligned with the Fleet Director/AVP on cruise line priorities, ship assignments, and strategic direction. Maintain a current, in-depth understanding of business goals, cruise line structure, and Effy's strategic direction across the assigned fleet. Sustain strong relationships across onboard teams, including Jewelers, HQ support, and Fleet Management peers, staying closely connected through team and ship transitions. Apply an up-to-date, in-depth understanding of onboard operations, expense procedures, and sales systems. Continue leadership and operational development through Effy University and ongoing learning modules. Cadence of Responsibilities — Daily Review and respond to all daily revenue and performance reports. Comment on highlights and wins in cruise line WhatsApp groups to maintain engagement and visibility. Conduct daily calls with performing and underperforming ships to create consistency in communication or teams requiring additional coaching or motivation. Maintain open communication with the Fleet Director/AVP on challenges, opportunities, and results. Join morning HQ Scrum calls and onboard Kick off calls to ensure alignment onboard and ashore. Cadence of Responsibilities — Weekly Review manning schedules ensuring all ships are adequately staffed and balanced for success. Lead Weekly Highlights submissions and Voyage Action Plan calls with Managers and Ambassadors. Oversee the execution of all marketing and sales directives across the fleet. Conduct interviews and lead journey planning as part of weekly leadership syncs. Be hands‑on in building weekly action plans — knowing the focus, three actions, how each contributes, and what the weekly scorecard is telling you. DFU focus ships take priority; ensure manning, inventory, and HQ sailings are targeted here first. Ensure all WOW reports, marketing reviews, and coaching sessions are completed on schedule. Contribute to Fleet Weekly Calls. Cadence of Responsibilities — Monthly Review and submit monthly expenses and targets to HQ. Conduct monthly KPI reviews and trend analyses across the assigned fleet. Host best‑practice sessions to scale successful strategies from top-performing ships. Collaborate with HQ on new initiatives, brand launches, or retail campaigns. Collaboration With HQ Departments Fleet Manager holds final decision authority across all HQ department coordination for the assigned fleet. Merchandising: merchandise requests, inventory, and brand opportunities. Logistics: shipment issues, inventory support, and store needs. Marketing: event readiness, signage, and campaign execution. Finance: financing tools, discount matters, and Ocean Pay Cards. Manning: talent movement, rotations, and staffing schedules. IT: system issues and technical support. Fleet Operations: sailing requests, trunk shows, special orders, and travel planning. Cruise Retail HQ: guest escalations and customer service. Leadership & Coaching Development Lead by example through onboard coaching visits and virtual development sessions. Conduct one‑on‑one coaching with Managers and Ambassadors to reinforce performance and leadership behavior. Provide constructive feedback from Daily Flash Reports and End of Voyage reviews to improve consistency and accountability. Develop team capability through mentorship, feedback, and succession planning. One‑on‑one personal development sessions with Fleet Director. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Aligned main cruise line focus of KPI (AUR, UPT, ATV, Transactions etc) Aligned tools (Yellow Diamonds, Finance, F48, Bundle Cards, appointments, momentum etc) Fleet performance versus budget (weekly & monthly). Quality and clarity of coaching - onboard coaching visit outcomes and feedback quality. Execution consistency across marketing and promotion cycles, including event attendance and revenue impact (Shopping Shows, Spree, D&G, Vault). Timely and accurate reporting compliance (EOV, WOW, Flash Reports). Leadership impact: team engagement and leadership development progression across the fleet. Fleet-wide stability and performance improvement across underperforming and DFU ships. Success in identifying, scaling, and institutionalizing best practices across ships. Effy Development Plan (EDP) in underperformance and/or team members being elevated. Travel Requirements 40% sailing requirement (approximately 12 sailing days per month). Remaining time focuses on remote coaching, planning, reporting, interviewing, and leadership development. Salary Range $80,000 annually, annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
