Maintenance Technician

Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of skilled, journey-level duties in the installation, modification, design, maintenance, and repair/renovation of buildings, classrooms, and training spaces in support of the readySC TM statewide training projects. Activities include but are not limited to building support systems, walls, hanging doors and windows; repairing roofs and floors; paint; building tables and fixtures. Under the direction of the Trades Supervisor, provide support with activities associated with carpentry, masonry, electrical, welding, venting, installing/moving air lines, plumbing, HVAC, floor refinishing, paint and dry wall repairs. Transfer, store, move and set up equipment and furniture as required for project support. Perform a variety of semi-skilled duties involving the inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and servicing of field and shop equipment, components, facilities and machinery associated. Schedule and coordinate activities with division, Area Directors, Project Managers and respective college personnel. Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned activities. Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition. Maintain various records related to labor, materials, and work orders to be submitted for reconciliation.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis for basis. Knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial/mechanical equipment and machinery. Perform a wide variety of skilled journey-level work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to perform heavy manual labor and lift 50 -100 lbs. Ability to work on call for statewide projects.
