Compensation Range: $22.00–$25.00 per hour

Location: Concord, NH

Work Schedule: Multiple Shifts Available (Days 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Evenings 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, Nights 11:00 PM–7:00 AM)

Company Overview

A state-operated acute psychiatric healthcare organization is seeking Mental Health Workers to provide direct patient care and support within an inpatient behavioral health environment. The position works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and plays an essential role in promoting patient safety, therapeutic engagement, and continuity of care.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Worker provides direct care and observation for patients receiving acute psychiatric treatment. Responsibilities include supporting daily patient needs, documenting observations, reinforcing treatment goals, assisting with admissions, monitoring patient behaviors, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with patient admission procedures and orientation to the unit.
• Search patients for contraband and document patient valuables.
• Complete required patient documentation accurately.
• Observe patient behaviors and report significant changes promptly.
• Support patients with bathing, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Monitor dietary intake and maintain nutritional records.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment.
• Utilize supportive communication and de-escalation techniques with anxious or agitated patients.
• Encourage therapeutic activities and supervised group participation.
• Reinforce individualized treatment goals during patient interactions.
• Escort and supervise patients during appointments, legal proceedings, and approved outings.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and mandatory education.
• Maintain current knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff and the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of submission.
• Ability to work in an inpatient psychiatric environment.
• COVID-19 vaccination documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous psychiatric or behavioral health experience.
• Prior Mental Health Worker or psychiatric technician experience.
• Experience working with patients experiencing behavioral health crises.
• Experience documenting patient observations in a clinical setting.
• Willingness to complete a mandatory four-week first-shift orientation.
