Job Title: Polysomnographic Technologist Location: CMC Support Department Name: Sleep Lab Req #: 0000223367 Status: Hourly Shift: Night Pay Range: $25.53 - $32.21 per hour Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: PSG Technologist works under the direction of the Medical Director. The Technologist is responsible for obtaining standard and complex recording as well as special procedure polysomnographic recording and for monitoring additional physiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques. Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED * Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or the American Board of Sleep Medicine * Must hold and maintain an active NJ Polysomnography Technologist license * Experience: A minimum of three years' clinical experience in a sleep center setting * High degree of leadership, organizational and teaching skills Scheduling Requirements: * Full-time * Night shift split and day shifts * Weekends * On call as required by the department. Essential Functions: * Performs standard and complex polysomnographic and related studies. * Prepares the laboratory and equipment, making the necessary adjustments and calibrations. * The technologist is to write a descriptive technical report on each study to aid the physicians in their interpretation of the recording. * The technologist must maintain all equipment and supplies used in the polysomnography and also perform all necessary preventative maintenance. * Use of titration equipment. CPAP,BI-Level and ASV * Participates in developing and training fellow staff members to help increase their level of knowledge in polysomnography. * Adapts procedures to particular clinical circumstances. This implies the ability to add electrodes in non-standard locations and to devise the appropriate recording techniques with no assistance. * Files recording and reports. Sends reports out to respective doctor, patient floor or other medical facility. * Operates the MIS computer for the purpose of billing, order entry and other relevant data necessary for completion of a patient's test. * Able to determine when to start PAP Titration according to department policy and procedure and/or physician prescription. Mask fittings * Performs MSLT/MWT and PAP Nap testing. * Coordinates and assists AWAKE/Narcolepsy support programs. * Assist staff physicians with patients charts and data review. * Scores polysomnograms which agree within 80% of the sleep medicine specialist's scoring. * Performs other related duties as required by the department supervisor.
