Registered Nurse - NICU Level III

Location: Newark, NJ

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background in NICU Level III care. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care for neonates and exhibit expertise in various clinical skills essential in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care for neonates 29-34 weeks and more than 34 weeks.
• Administer blood products and start/maintain IV lines.
• Manage medication including anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics, and steroids while ensuring neonatal dosage calculations are accurately performed.
• Perform cardiovascular monitoring with telemetry on vents/intubated patients.
• Support respiratory functions using various oxygen delivery systems and manage respiratory distress.
• Facilitate breastfeeding support, enteral feedings, and tube placements.
• Conduct developmental care and patient/family education.
• Participate in infection control practices and isolation precautions.
• Conduct sepsis workups and manage hyperbilirubinemia with phototherapy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Active NJ License or Compact License required at the time of submission.
• BLS and NRP certifications required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU Level III setting.
• Experience with neurological care for neonatal abstinence syndrome.
