Diesel Mechanic Technician

Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers. Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision. Replace defective components as instructed. Work independently on most tasks. Perform facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints. Utilize key functions of shop management systems and electronic documentation. Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines. Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels. Access and use internal and external maintenance documents. Perform other support duties as required, including service island support. Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220). Complete 2 OEM online diagnostic scan‑tool software courses within 365 days. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred). Basic tools required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance, oil changes, brake, and tire work. Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems. Three or more years of relevant work experience (preferred). Valid CDL Class A (preferred). All other certifications required by location. Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment. Knowledge and ability to use computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire. Pass a Ryder drug test. Pass a DOT physical. Pass a Ryder road test. Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification for previous employers for the last 3 years.
