About the Position

Job Title: CVOR RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours (06:15 - 16:45) Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience required, with some trauma or major operating room experience preferred. License: Must have an active Illinois license in hand or in the application process. Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred. Must-Have: Experience with specific cardiovascular, vascular, and endoscopic procedures. Description: Position requires a CVOR RN for a cardiovascular operating room. The average daily census is 10 patients with 4 rooms and beds available. Candidates with a minimum of 3 years of experience are preferred. First-time travelers are accepted. Candidates must be open to rotational call on weekends and at least one night of call each week, with one or two late nights per week. Local candidates are accepted, with no radius restrictions. RTO (request time off) restrictions ideally limit to no more than 5 days. The client can call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without compensation for the canceled hours. Special requirements include significant experience in the cardiovascular operating room, general operating room, and various specific surgical procedures. Required skills include aortic aneurysm repair, atrial septal defect repair, coronary artery bypass graft, ECMO, and left ventricular assist device operations. Vascular skills also required include abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, and vein stripping. Endoscopic expertise needed includes bronchoscopy, EGD, and Whipple procedures. Knowledge of laser safety, specimen handling, and universal protocol is mandatory. Candidates should have teaching hospital experience and Level II trauma experience.
