Job Description

Job Title: Millwright Foreman

Job Description

This role leads a team of field fabricators and installers on multiple industrial construction projects, including packing sheds, feed mills, dryers, and silos across several locations. You will begin in the fabrication shop to learn and help build the equipment that will later be installed in the field, then travel to job sites in a company work truck to oversee mechanical installation and welding activities. The position combines hands-on fabrication, welding, and mechanical installation with day-to-day crew leadership in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of field fabricators and installers on industrial construction projects.
  • Work in the fabrication shop to help build equipment and components that will be installed in the field.
  • Coordinate and perform installation of packing sheds, feed mills, dryers, silos, and related mechanical systems at various project sites.
  • Use TIG, dual shield, and MIG welding techniques to support fabrication and installation, including tack welding with dual shield on mild steel and TIG welding on stainless steel components.
  • Perform mechanical assembly using nuts, bolts, hand tools, and power tools to complete installations safely and efficiently.
  • Oversee and participate in the installation of industrial and electrical components as part of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure quality workmanship by participating in and passing weld tests as required, including dual shield and TIG weld evaluations.
  • Plan daily work, assign tasks to crew members, and monitor progress to meet project schedules and production goals.
  • Maintain a safe work area and enforce adherence to safety procedures and construction site regulations.
  • Travel between shop and field locations in company vehicles and support field installations across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate with other team members to address issues in the field and in the shop, ensuring equipment and structures are installed correctly.
  • Support new builds and installations by adapting to changing project needs and assisting with backlog work as required.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience leading a team in mechanical installation or industrial construction environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for assembly and installation.
  • Proficiency in dual shield welding for tack welding on mild steel components.
  • Ability to perform TIG welding, including on stainless steel materials.
  • Experience with MIG welding in fabrication and installation settings.
  • Background in fabrication work in a shop environment, including building equipment for field installation.
  • Experience with mechanical installation of industrial equipment such as packing sheds, feed mills, dryers, and silos.
  • Ability to read and follow installation requirements and adapt to various industrial construction tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly between shop and multiple field sites using company vehicles.
  • Capability to work 5–6 days per week on 8–10 hour shifts in a construction environment.
  • Commitment to safety practices on active construction sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on large industrial or agricultural construction projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical aspects of industrial installations.
  • Prior experience in a foreman or lead role supervising crews of similar size.
  • Comfort working with a small, tight-knit team and contributing to a growing crew.
  • Ability to pass a weld test, including dual shield and TIG welds.
  • Experience working across multiple job sites and managing changing priorities.

Why Work Here?

You will join a small, close-knit crew where teamwork and mutual support are central to how work gets done. The company provides transportation in company vehicles to job sites, and drive time is paid at regular rates without counting against overtime calculations. With a strong backlog of new builds and installations, you can expect steady, long-term work and opportunities to grow as the team expands. The environment values hands-on craftsmanship, collaboration, and the chance to take pride in building complex industrial systems from the ground up.

Work Environment

The role is based in a construction environment focused on new industrial builds, including a pistachio facility and similar agricultural and industrial projects. You will split time between a fabrication shop and active field sites, working with a team currently around 15 people and expected to grow to approximately 20 by the end of the year. Work involves 5–6 days per week with 8–10 hour shifts, using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (dual shield, TIG, MIG), and other industrial fabrication tools. You will travel in company vehicles to various locations, with work sites ranging across multiple areas. The setting is a typical industrial construction environment that requires appropriate work attire, adherence to safety standards, and comfort working outdoors and around heavy equipment.
