Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must be competent in caring for stroke patients. Teamwork orientation is essential. Description: The unit consists of 24 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5. Virtual nursing support is available on day and night shifts. Common diagnoses include CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke/TIA, COPD, pulmonary embolism, and acute kidney injury. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nicardipine, and Dobutamine. Charge nurses and house supervisors are present on the unit. Nurse aides are available with a ratio of 1:8 when the unit is at full capacity. Respiratory therapy equipment such as high flow, BiPap, and oxygen titration is utilized. Telemetry is monitored on the unit, and RNs are responsible for reading strips. Shifts are self-scheduled with an additional shift requirement every six weeks. Every third weekend is required, with additional weekends available if desired. Holidays are divided by weekend rotation. The unit has a floating requirement, with staff being the first to float when needed. The dress code requires navy tops and bottoms. Standard charting system used is EPIC.
