Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) with at least two years of experience to provide high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing patient assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize patient care needs in the Emergency Room (ER).
• Assist in the management of patients with various conditions, including chest pain, stroke, shortness of breath, and sepsis.
• Administer medications, perform procedures, and monitor patient responses in accordance with protocols.
• Work collaboratively with physicians and mid-level providers, maintaining effective communication.
• Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health education.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Unit Information

The Emergency Room is a Level 2 trauma center that serves as a stroke and chest pain center. We have:

• 30 beds and 4 trauma bays
• A dedicated fast track area for minor emergencies
• A separate holding area and seclusion room for psychiatric patients
• In-house security available 24/7
• A patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1
• Approximately 90 to 100 patients treated daily

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS are required.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

This position offers self-scheduling options with manager oversight, with expectations for weekend and holiday shifts. There is a requirement for floating between Emergency Departments as needed. During shifts, there will be access to respiratory therapy, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory services on-site, with various monitoring and emergency equipment available.

Orientation and Training

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation, including three shifts of unit-specific training in addition to required education sessions.

Dress Code

Employees are expected to wear navy blue scrubs featuring the organization's logo.
