Rhino Medical is seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians (MD/DO) for long-term locum tenens opportunities in Oceanside, California , along the beautiful North San Diego County coastline.

Beginning January 2027 , this opportunity offers a flexible mix of day, swing, and overnight shifts in an established, high-volume emergency department. Physicians can expect approximately 10 shifts per month , with assignments anticipated to extend six months or longer .

Physicians who can accommodate a combination of day, swing, and overnight shifts are especially encouraged to inquire. Qualified candidates with more limited availability will also be considered.

• Approximately 397 hospital beds
• Average patient volume of approximately 2 patients per hour
• Physician and Advanced Practice Clinician staffing model
• Non-trauma-designated hospital
• Cerner electronic medical record
• No dedicated scribe services

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, stabilize, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
• Manage a broad range of emergency presentations across varying acuity levels
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate appropriate diagnostic testing and treatment
• Collaborate with advanced practice clinicians, nursing teams, and consulting specialties
• Determine appropriate patient disposition, including admission, transfer, or discharge
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation using Cerner
• Deliver efficient, evidence-based emergency care in a busy community hospital setting

Physician Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed Emergency Medicine residency training
• Active, unrestricted California medical license required
• ABEM or AOBEM board certification preferred
• Board-eligible Emergency Medicine physicians considered within five years of training
• 1–3 years of Emergency Medicine experience
• ACLS certification required
• ATLS and PALS certifications applicable to other eligible candidates
• Recent hospital-based Emergency Medicine experience preferred
• Family Medicine and Internal Medicine-trained physicians are not eligible
