Executive Director, Chemical Biology/Drug Design

Recursion seeks an Executive Director of Chemical Biology/Drug Design to lead strategy and teams in bridging multiomic discovery with target identification and chemical probe design. This senior scientific leadership role spans traditional small molecules and emerging modalities including targeted protein degradation and molecular glues, leveraging the company's AI/ML platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute chemical biology strategy aligned with multiomics platform capabilities
• Build, mentor, and manage team of chemists focused on multiomic-driven chemical biology
• Establish and oversee internal and external CRO chemistry networks for synthesis and validation
• Partner with biology, target ID, and computational teams to align chemical strategy with portfolio
• Lead portfolio governance discussions and represent team in senior leadership meetings

Requirements

• PhD in chemical biology, chemistry, or related field
• Senior scientific leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams
• Expertise in chemical biology, target identification, and probe design
• Experience with emerging modalities such as protein degradation or molecular glues
• Track record partnering with computational, structural biology, and data science groups
• Demonstrated ability to set strategy and manage internal and external research teams
