Controls Partner, Senior Manager

Purpose of the role To assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank's internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the bank’s operational, financial, and reputational risk. In this role, you’ll assess adherence to organizational standards, evaluate the integrity of internal existing controls, and identify gaps that could impact operational, financial, or reputational risk. You’ll collaborate with business partners to understand existing remediation plans and design and implement remediation plans for—making a direct impact on safeguarding the organization and supporting its long‑term resilience. In addition, your role will assist with the documentation of existing “end to end” processes, controls, reporting, and governance with integration into Best Egg and Barclays control systems. Accountabilities Knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to assess risk. Collaboration with stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings. Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by the severity to disrupt bank operations. Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders. Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice. Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and setting appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework. Expectations Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions. Influence a team performing complex tasks, using well‑developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes. Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments, identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, and a combination of cross‑functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes. Consult on complex issues; provide advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues. Specific to this role Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda. Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done. Perform work closely related to that of other areas, requiring understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to achievement of the organization sub‑function objectives. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy. Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources including internal and external sources such as procedures and practices. Communicate complex information, including sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or audience. Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Qualifications A background in financial services with experience in risk oversight and control activities, including issue resolution, documentation of safeguards, and Risk and Control Self‑Assessment. The ability to review processes, recognise potential risks, and establish the safeguards needed to reduce those risks; evaluate requirements within Barclays Standards and ensure existing documented safeguards meet expectations. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and subject‑matter experts to successfully complete assignments. Preferred Skills Prior gap assessment experience. FinTech experience. Prior Risk and Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA) experience. Key critical skills: risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job‑specific technical skills. Compensation $115,000 - $130,000 a year. Eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance. Yearly incentive bonus target 20% of base salary.
