F/T OFFICE ASSISTANT / FINANCE & PAYROLL CLERK
The Township of Montague seeks a responsible, organized, and customer service-oriented individual for a full-time Office Assistant / Finance & Payroll Clerk position. This confidential position will support the Finance Department and provide administrative assistance across municipal operations. The successful candidate will be cross-trained in multiple departments and serve as a versatile member of the Township staff. Responsibilities Accounts payable Maintaining vendor records and required documentation Preparing bill lists Maintaining purchase order files Processing payroll Reviewing and verifying employee time records Maintaining payroll and attendance records Issuing dog licenses Processing daily receipts Scanning and filing records Answering telephones Greeting the public Routing calls Distributing mail Typing correspondence Copying Filing Providing general clerical and administrative support to various departments Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of office experience Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and customer service skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong computer and data entry skills Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations while maintaining confidential information Municipal experience preferred but not required Ability to work cooperatively with elected officials, department heads, employees, volunteers, and the public Applicants must be New Jersey residents or willing to relocate in accordance with New Jersey law Salary Salary range is $18 to $25 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
