Position Summary

As a Pet Wellness Sales Associate, your primary responsibility is helping customers find the best wellness solutions for their pets while driving store sales and building lasting customer relationships.

This is not a traditional retail position. We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy connecting with people, educating customers, achieving goals, and being rewarded for their performance.

What You'll Do

Sales & Customer Engagement

• Welcome customers and their pets with enthusiasm and professionalism
• Build meaningful relationships with pet parents
• Ask thoughtful questions to understand customer needs and pet wellness goals
• Recommend foods, treats, supplements, toys, accessories, and wellness products
• Educate customers on nutrition, ingredients, and product benefits
• Cross-sell and upsell products that improve pet health and customer outcomes
• Increase average transaction value through product education and service
• Meet and exceed individual and team sales goals
• Participate in ongoing sales coaching and product training
• Help customers feel confident in their purchasing decisions

Customer Experience

• Deliver exceptional customer service during every interaction
• Create a welcoming environment for customers and their pets
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and positively
• Support customer loyalty and retention efforts
• Maintain Cap'n Lu's reputation as a trusted pet wellness resource

Store Operations

• Process customer transactions accurately
• Operate the point-of-sale system efficiently
• Receive, unpack, verify, and stock merchandise deliveries
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked sales areas
• Assist with merchandising and promotional displays
• Follow daily operational and cleaning procedures
• Support inventory management and product organization

Community & Brand Engagement

• Participate in store events, promotions, and community outreach initiatives
• Capture photos and videos of pets and store activities for social media content
• Represent the Cap'n Lu's brand positively both inside and outside the store
• Support marketing and customer engagement efforts

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Passion for pets and helping people
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Reliable, accountable, and dependable
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Availability to work Wednesdays, most Saturdays, and occasional evenings or special events

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous retail, sales, hospitality, or customer service experience
• Experience working with pets or pet products
• Knowledge of pet nutrition and wellness products
• Pet ownership experience is a plus
• Bilingual skills are a plus
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
