The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist II is responsible for providing site-level EHS support to plant leadership, administrative teams, and front-line production employees. This role leads EHS initiatives, processes, and policies under the direction of site leadership and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Specialist II serves as a visible safety leader on the plant floor, supporting continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety performance.Responsibilities:Put safety first – Always! Lead and foster our "people first" culture.Ensure EHS policies and procedures are followed by all site personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal regulationsAssist with development and delivery of EHS training, including site orientation and safety awareness programsRespond to incidents and coordinate investigations to identify hazards, verify corrective actions, and evaluate effectiveness of controlsLead incident investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions are completed and sustainedManage vendors, contractors, and engineers to ensure compliance with EHS standards and requirementsLead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and conduct annual reviews of completed JHAsParticipate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) and provide safety guidance based on technical expertisePlan and manage emergency response training and drills in coordination with the Site Emergency Response TeamCollaborate with engineering and site leadership on equipment selection and development of safe operating proceduresManage environmental permit compliance activities related to wastewater, stormwater, and chemical managementSelect, author, and maintain content for internal EHS communications or webpagesEnsure EHS compliance deadlines are met for assigned facilities or departmentsProvide technical guidance regarding health-related issues and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE); maintain PPE inventoryAssist the EHS Manager with reviewing, creating, and updating EHS procedures, manuals, and documentationLead the Site Safety Committee and escalate concerns to plant leadershipParticipate in extended EHS initiatives and cross-site projects as assignedServe on-call to respond to incidents or provide EHS support when requiredAct as delegate for the EHS Manager for Tier III meetings when requestedPerform other duties as assigned by managementJob Location: Winchester, Virginia, United StatesPosition Type: Full-Time/RegularExperience: We are looking for leaders with either a bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health, public health, natural sciences, or a related field and 3–5 years of relevant EHS experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 7 or more years of experience in an EHS-related role.
