Astrolab's IT Service Desk is the front line of support for every teammate — from mission control operators to engineers on the shop floor. As a Service Desk Engineer I, you'll be the first point of contact for day-to-day technology needs: setting up new hires, resolving hardware and software issues, and keeping our Microsoft-based environment (Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft 365) running smoothly. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role on a small team, ideal for someone early in their IT career who wants broad exposure across systems, hardware, and process. This role will report to the IT Service Desk Manager. 
What you'll do:

• Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests via Jira ticketing system and in-person walk-ups 
• Support new hire onboarding: account provisioning, device imaging and setup, and day-1 readiness 
• Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting for Windows and macOS laptops, peripherals, and conference room/collaboration technology 
• Perform password resets, MFA enrollment, and basic account tasks in Entra ID/Intune 
• Install, configure, and update software and manage license assignments 
• Track and manage IT assets, including equipment check-in/check-out and inventory audits 
• Document resolutions and contribute to internal knowledge base articles 
• Escalate complex issues to Tier 2/3 support with clear documentation and context 
• Support offboarding tasks such as access removal and equipment recovery 
• Assist with IT projects as needed, such as office moves, equipment refreshes, or software rollouts 

What you'll bring:

Basic Qualifications  

• Experience providing IT support, help desk support, technical support, or similar customer-facing technical services, ideally in an early-career capacity 
• Experience supporting Windows 10/11 environments; experience with macOS and/or Linux is a plus 
• Experience working with Microsoft 365 applications and supporting user accounts and access 

Preferred Qualifications  

• Experience with CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900 or AZ-900), or an equivalent technical certification 
• Experience working with ticketing or IT service management (ITSM) platforms, such as ServiceNow, Freshservice, or Jira Service Management 
• Experience supporting or administering Intune, Entra ID, Azure AD, or similar identity and device-management platforms 
• Experience supporting technical, engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, robotics, or other complex technical environments 
• Experience communicating clearly and effectively with users of varying levels of technical expertise 
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues, prioritizing requests, and managing multiple support needs in a fast-paced environment 
• Experience delivering responsive, customer-focused support while maintaining a professional and solutions-oriented approach 
• Experience safely handling and moving IT equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds and working on-site daily
