Procurement Specialist

Procurement Specialist II Location: Houston, TX 77042 System One is seeking two Procurement Specialists with experience in the heavy industrial construction sector to be responsible for sourcing medium and high criticality materials and subcontracts across the full project lifecycle, from deal development through contract award, while also mentoring junior peers. The role requires strong commercial analysis skills, the ability to write award recommendations, and a focus on maintaining supplier relationships and transparent communication with key stakeholders. Important Details 6-month contract with possibility of conversion to a permanent full‑time position Start date: May 2026 Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Work location: 100% onsite at client office in Houston, TX 77042 Weekly pay Benefits after 30 days (health, dental, vision, etc.) 401(k) after 30 days Job offer contingent on drug screen and background check Responsibilities Focus on contract life-cycle management and administration, and overall supplier management and relationship building Establish core contract management processes and contract content to monitor and manage contract compliance Participate in procurement project management teams to support contract compliance Identify issues, propose solutions, provide negotiation support, and resolve contractual issues Advise in Master Agreement Program Contract Development Participate in Deal Development and support estimating efforts including issuing RFIs Lead procurement execution for medium to high criticality sourcing events Conduct research and develop sourcing strategies for assigned items Develop supplier lists and issue RFP packages and amendments Develop performance‑based scopes of work and understand specifications & drawings Develop negotiating strategies Conduct bidder conferences and coordinate discussions between bidders and technical personnel Perform evaluation of proposals and conduct supplier negotiations Write supplier recommendations that explain and support the source‑selection process and decision Understand terms and conditions and contract formation Negotiate award of contracts to suppliers Support contract administration and subcontract management Participate in supplier and subcontractor kick‑off and close‑out meetings Scope and negotiate contract change orders and amendments Participate in weekly procurement meetings Lead team with partial supervision responsibilities Mentor team and other procurement personnel Manage work in fast‑paced environment focused on complex, higher profile technical items Provide support to other procurement personnel as needed Maintain knowledge of procurement processes and procedures per client SOPs Maintain knowledge of Oracle, Dragnet, PPMS, and other IT systems Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, engineers, construction and key stakeholders Job Requirements Minimum 3+ years of procurement experience within EPC or related industrial industries such as power, oil & gas, infrastructure, or heavy construction High School Diploma or GED Ability to work independently, think and plan ahead, and bring issues to management attention Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Experience using Microsoft Office Productivity tools (Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) Experience creating document templates and workflows in industry digital document approval platforms like DocuSign and Adobe Sign beneficial Some travel may be necessary, up to 25% Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience 3–7 years related experience preferred Preferred large industrial construction procurement experience Prefer experience in multiple industrial market sectors Prior experience interfacing with client and engineering entities preferred Physical Demands Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email; use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity; may be required to lift, carry and move objects safely. Work Environment Role is office‑based at the client’s Houston, TX office with a fast‑paced corporate setting; occasional travel up to 25% may be required.
