Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 18+ months of recent ICU experience for a night shift hospital position requiring every other weekend availability.

Details

• Hospital-based Respiratory Therapy/Neuro Diagnostics unit
• Adult critical care and emergency department patient population
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Required to float between multiple affiliate hospitals within the health system
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• NBRC RRT certification required
• Indiana state license or compact license required if applicable
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience with 18 months of recent ICU experience
• Education must be accredited through CoARC and regionally accredited through CHEA
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Skilled in arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
• Proficient in airway management including intubation/extubation assist and suctioning
• Experience with oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• 2 supervisor references required
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to adult critical care and emergency department patients
• Perform medication delivery via aerosol setup, nebulizers, and metered dose inhalers
• Administer medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, and Xopenex
• Collect sputum specimens and provide tracheostomy care/management
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Indiana residents are considered local candidates but are not accepted for this unit
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
