Phlebotomist

Position Summary Under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department of Pathology. Experience 6 months to 1 year phlebotomy experience including pediatrics venipuncture and micro-collection. Education High School graduate or GED required. Required Licenses & Credentials Phlebotomy, Nursing or Medical Assistant certification preferred. Required Skills Excellent customer relations skills; math, verbal, and written skills at high school level. Contact with Others Regular internal and/or external contacts involving considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain information and/or willing action or consent where it would otherwise be difficult to obtain. Supervision Given Periodically take ‘lead’ responsibilities on a rotating basis. Supervision Received Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate supervisor or designee. Hours Bi-Weekly Hours: 80 Compensation The minimum starting rate for this position is $18.00.
