SENIOR NETWORK ANALYST

About The Position The Clark County Information Technology Department seeks a Senior Network Analyst to install, support, and configure Cisco network hardware and components, provide ongoing software and hardware maintenance including updates and security patches, monitor and troubleshoot performance issues, and support customers and employees via email, telephone, and face‑to‑face interaction. The role requires expertise in Cisco networking systems, Palo Alto firewalls, and server virtualization within a large‑scale enterprise environment. Minimum Requirements Education and Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, plus four (4) years of full‑time experience installing and managing multiple protocol networks—including design work and troubleshooting major outages. Professional‑level experience or education that provides equivalent skills may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. All education and experience must be clearly documented in the application’s Education and Work Experience sections. Working Conditions Extended shifts, emergency call‑backs, and travel to remote sites through rugged roadways may be required. Licensing and Certification Specified positions may require a valid Nevada Class C driver’s license at time of appointment. Background Investigation Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation; periodic investigations may be conducted thereafter. Citizenship Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorship or transfers. Pre‑Employment Drug Testing Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre‑employment drug examination. Examples of Duties General Tasks Performed in All Positions Meet with county and other governmental agencies to determine requirements for new or upgraded networks. Create project plans for all network projects; configure and test procedures and equipment. Communicate status of projects to management and customers. Research and evaluate network equipment, estimate costs, and make vendor recommendations. Conduct facility inspections to ensure adequate environmental controls for network equipment. Create and maintain logical, physical, and protocol maps and backups of all equipment configuration parameters and documentation standards. Coordinate network services, technical and maintenance support with outside service providers. Manage the network using automated systems to identify trouble spots and remotely administer routers, servers, and other equipment. Field trouble calls from customers related to network problems; travel to other locations to install and repair equipment. Train and coordinate with technical support staff and help desk personnel in troubleshooting procedures. Provide additional support in the area of Novell and NT operating systems. Track the assignment of TCP/IP networks and individual addresses using certificate systems and domain name database. Perform periodic maintenance on production network equipment and software. Consult with departments and provide technical expertise regarding future network requirements. Project short‑ and long‑term requirements for the network based on current utilization and trends. Develop strategic plans to leverage emerging network technology to support future county network needs. Drive a motor vehicle or arrange transportation to and from work sites and respond to emergencies. For Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC) Positions Assist and support the SNACC Administrator in developing and maintaining the land mobile radio (LMR) communications network and associated 800 MHz Public Safety Radio System. Design and coordinate installation of LAN/WAN networks on various mediums including copper, fiber, microwave, and radio waves; maintain and manage radio system frequencies. Design, develop, and implement subscriber unit templates using vendor software locally and remotely. Manage and integrate radio system monitoring tools and reporting tools. Manage radio subscriber inventory and system infrastructure. Test and align various radio models rated for public safety, ensuring reliable access to the SNACC Public Safety Radio System and optimal customer service. Physical Demands Mobility to travel to various work sites, work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.
