Job Description Job Description SENIOR ACCOUNTANT The Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance function, responsible for delivering reliable financial reporting while providing the analysis and discipline that help the business operate effectively. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this role sits close to the numbers and close to the business. The right person will bring strong accounting fundamentals, sound judgment, and an interest in understanding what is driving financial performance. The work spans reporting, forecasting, cash flow, compliance, audit, tax, and financial processes within a manufacturing environment. REPORTS TO Director of Accounting PRIMARY SCOPE Accounting, reporting and analysis BUSINESS CONTEXT Manufacturing This position has broad visibility across the finance function and is expected to bring structure, accuracy, and insight to the information used by management. You will prepare and interpret financial information, support planning and forecasting, protect the integrity of the accounting records, and help ensure that financial obligations are met on time. A strong Senior Accountant in this role is not simply recording results. You are expected to understand them, recognize changes in performance, investigate the reasons behind them, and communicate what management should know. What You Will Do Financial Reporting and Analysis · Prepare accurate monthly financial reports, forecasts, and financial statements, with the reporting package delivered to headquarters by the first week of each month. · Generate and analyze financial information that gives management a clear view of company performance and financial health. · Analyze industry trends and relevant financial results, identifying matters that warrant attention. · Maintain complete and accurate financial, accounting, tax, regulatory, and corporate records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. · Support the finance function through sound internal controls, well maintained policies and procedures, budgeting activities, training, and regular review of financial processes. Planning, Forecasting and Cash Management · Prepare financial forecasts and status reports that support sound business and strategic decisions. · Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and monitor liquidity to ensure the business has sufficient funds for its operating needs. · Compare annual budgets with actual performance, investigate significant variances, identify the underlying causes, and recommend appropriate corrective action. · Develop a practical understanding of the manufacturing operation and use that knowledge to assess cost structures and profitability.
