Pharmacist I/II - Inpatient - EC - Nights

UC San Diego Health is seeking an outstanding clinical pharmacist to join a highly successful Inpatient Pharmacy team to work as a Night Pharmacist at our East Campus location. The job will integrate into the clinical, teaching, research, and distribution system for UC San Diego Health System and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. These activities include but are not limited to: profile review, pharmacokinetics, renal drug dosing, medication reconciliation, chemotherapy order review, precepting pharmacy students from the Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, precepting UC San Diego Health System PGY1 & PGY2 Pharmacy Residents, investigational drug support, and other activities that optimize outcomes of drug therapy. Hours for this position are 7 days on/7 days off, including holidays.

Under general supervision, the Staff Pharmacist is responsible for provision and documentation of medications and medication-related services to patients, according to standards established by the Department of Pharmacy. Participates in Medical Center and Departmental committees and promotes institution-wide medication use policy.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Staff Pharmacy I or Staff Pharmacy II. Less than four (4) years experience qualifies as Staff Pharmacy I; Four (4) + years of experience qualifies as Staff Pharmacy II.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Registered Pharmacist - issued by the state of California (RPH).
  • Pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical experience.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Annual Full Pay Range: $183,138 - $186,834 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $87.71 - $89.48

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements. If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
