Shipping Supervisor - 3rd Shift At Pilgrim’s, safety is a condition; the safety of our team members comes first – always. In this key role, you’ll serve as the frontline leader overseeing daily operations within our poultry production facility. You’ll ensure production targets are met while maintaining high standards for safety, quality assurance, and efficiency. Based primarily on the production floor, you’ll coordinate team duties, monitor equipment and workflow, and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations. The role also requires agility to respond to operational issues in real time, helping maintain a productive and well‑functioning workplace. General Summary Responsible for supervising processes and procedures in the receiving and shipping department. Ensures that goods are verified against shipment records, oversees the inspection of goods received, and supervises the maintenance of records for damaged or defective items and discrepancies in quantities and weights. Records time, date, quantity, source, and destination of materials received or shipped. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Supervise employees engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Supervise employees who count, weigh, and identify items in the receiving and shipping department. Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet schedules. Determine space requirements and position of shipments in boxcars and trucks and lay out position of shipment. Determine routing and legal load limits of trucks according to established schedules and weight limits of states. Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, seal loaded boxcars and truck doors. Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel or outside service contacts for repair. Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. Compile records of unfilled orders. Post weight and shipping charges; prepare bills of lading. Provide supervision, training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping personnel. What You’ll Need Education: High School Diploma/GED. College degree in related field preferred. Experience: 1+ years supervisory experience with leadership of 20+ employees preferred. Poultry or food industry experience is a plus. Skills: Effective communication oral and written, independent decision making, basic computer knowledge, ability to manage multiple priorities. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
