Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and analysis of diagnostic data; provide nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician-prescribed medical plans.
• Perform all circulating duties, including prepping the operating room for patient and procedure, positioning and preparing the patient on the operating table, and completing the Safe Surgery verification checklist.
• Delegate, supervise, and evaluate the activities of other team members while executing immediate directives and interventions in urgent or emergent situations.
• Serve as the communication liaison between the patient's family and members of the operating team.
• Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner using appropriate formats and forms.
• Assist in the control and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff within or outside the sterile field.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in South Carolina or compact state eligibility.
• Experience in cardiovascular or cardiac operating room nursing.
• Proficiency in circulating duties within the operating room setting.
• Working knowledge of computer programs utilized for patient care delivery.
• Ability to participate in assigned on-call scheduling as required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a CVOR or cardiothoracic surgical environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth through goal-setting and participation in continuing education offerings.
