Procurement Specialist I

Procurement Specialist I supports sourcing activities during the Deal Development phase and procurement execution during the award phase for Zachry Group. The role manages sourcing events for standard to medium‑criticality materials, equipment, and subcontracts in a fast‑paced environment, including early procurement checkpoints and research‑driven sourcing strategies. Responsibilities Focus on contract life‑cycle management, administration, and overall supplier relationship building. Establish core contract management processes and contract content to monitor and ensure contract compliance. Participate in Deal Development and support estimating efforts, including issuing Request for Information (RFIs). Lead procurement execution for standard to medium‑criticality sourcing events, commensurate with procurement experience. Conduct research and develop sourcing strategies for assigned items. Develop supplier lists and issue RFP packages and amendments for standard to high‑criticality/complex equipment, material, and services. Conduct bidder conferences and coordinate discussions between bidders and technical personnel. Evaluate proposals and negotiate with suppliers. Document supplier recommendations that explain and support the source selection process. Understand terms, conditions, and contract formation. Negotiate award of contracts to suppliers. Support contract administration and subcontract management. Participate in supplier and subcontractor kick‑off and close‑out meetings. Scope and negotiate contract change orders and amendments. Participate in weekly procurement meetings. Manage work in a fast‑paced environment focused on complex, standard to medium profile technical items. Maintain knowledge of procurement processes, procedures, and Zachry’s standard operating procedures. Maintain knowledge of Oracle, Aconex PPMS, and other job‑specific IT support systems. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, engineers, construction, and key stakeholders. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 0 years of related experience. Ability to work independently, plan ahead, and bring issues to management; detail oriented and produce accurate work products. Experience with Microsoft Office Productivity tools (Office365, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) – preferred. Experience creating document templates and workflows in industry digital document approval platforms like DocuSign and Adobe Sign – beneficial. Some travel may be required – 25% or less. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience. 1–2 years of related experience preferred. Large industrial construction procurement experience preferred. Experience in multiple industrial market sectors preferred. Prior experience interfacing with client and engineering entities preferred. Physical Demands Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi‑limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension.
