Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for general medical-surgical patients with a variety of diagnoses in an 18-bed acute care unit
• Manage and titrate Heparin drips in accordance with unit protocols
• Monitor and manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC, and stable BiPAP/CPAP as needed
• Perform IV starts and collaborate with unit resources when needed; coordinate with inpatient phlebotomy team for blood draws
• Float to other units as needed, per facility floating policy
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including 24/7 Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of hospital-based nursing experience
• Ability to work every other weekend (Friday/Saturday nights) and participate in holiday rotation
• Must comply with drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (preferred for those interested in Charge RN responsibilities)
• Experience titrating Heparin drips in an acute care setting
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring equipment
