Patient Care Technician Program Director

Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. This role is responsible for curriculum development, faculty coordination, and student support, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment. The Program Director also engages with industry partners to ensure the program meets current professional standards and prepares students for successful careers in the field. What You’ll Do: Program Design and Evaluation: Design, implement, and evaluate the assigned program to ensure it meets educational standards and aligns with the institution's mission. Curriculum Development: Develop and update the curriculum to reflect current industry standards and best practices in the field. Faculty Management: Recruit, train, and supervise faculty members, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to deliver high-quality education. Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students, addressing their academic and professional development needs. Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure the program meets all accreditation requirements and complies with relevant regulations and standards. Industry Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with healthcare industry partners to ensure the program remains relevant and provides graduates with career opportunities. Program Assessment: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the program through regular evaluations and feedback from students, faculty, and industry partners. Budget Management: Develop and manage the program's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support program goals. Professional Development: Stay current with trends in the program field and higher education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance program quality. Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, and engagement. Meet regularly with direct reports in one-on-one and group settings to provide feedback and cultivate a positive work culture. Lead with Care: Lead, coach, and develop team members while fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, engagement, accountability, and inclusive, values‑based leadership. Perform other duties as assigned. Career Level Expectations: Applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through post-secondary education or equivalent work experience. Handles problems and uses critical thinking to solve. Communicates facts, policies and practices related to job area. Desire for growth and professional development. Required Skills/Experience: Master’s Degree or combination of Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience in healthcare or related field as appropriate to the program content. Administrative and/or supervisory experience with teams in the delivery of academic and/or social services. 15 semester credit hours in the subject field for Healthcare Instructor. Academic preparation in the specific courses taught. 3+ years’ experience in a hospital or long-term care facility. Active LPN/RN, PCT, CPT, EMT, Paramedic certification required and must be maintained as required by State and/or accrediting commissions. 2+ years’ experience required in proprietary adult education including student advising, evaluation skills, and classroom instruction experience preferred. Preferred Requirements: Master’s Degree in healthcare or related field as appropriate to the program content. Three (3) or more years of Administrative and/or supervisory experience with teams in the delivery of academic and/or social services. Online teaching experience in an accredited post-secondary institution. Three (3) or more years of experience in online education or proprietary industry. Proficient in MS Office and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams. Other skills or abilities – Learning Management System (LMS), emerging education technologies, education program strategic planning and market analysis. Compliance: Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable state laws and rules, federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and internal policies and procedures. Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department. Work Environment/Physical Demands: This is an onsite position supporting both of UMA's ground campuses in Clearwater, Florida, and Tampa, Florida. May include a flexible remote schedule for online/virtual instructional opportunity. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
