RN - PCU

Registered Nurse In Progressive Care Unit

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit. The unit provides care for patients with heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic needs. The RN will be responsible for managing a patient ratio of 1:5-6. The nurse will be required to float across multiple campuses. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of telemetry, left equipment, chest tubes, and airvo. Experience in trauma care is highly preferred. Successful candidates will have completed at least one travel assignment in the past 12 months. Winter holiday work may be required if the unit is open. Candidates must be willing to work every other or every third weekend depending on staffing needs.

Experience: 24 months of Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital setting is required. License: Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license is required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA) are required. NIHSS is preferred. Must-Have: Candidates must have neurology/neurosurgery care experience. Candidates must have ortho/orthopedic care experience. Candidates must have drip experience with Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium. EKG/Telemetry experience is required. Candidates must have a de-escalation certificate (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA preferred).
