Role Description:
This is afull-time positionfor a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)locatedaround Detroit, MI. The CWI willbe responsible forensuring welding quality and compliance with industry standards, codes, and project specifications.This roleinvolveinspecting welds, reviewing procedures, conducting tests, andmaintainingdocumentation to ensure safety and structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds
- Verify compliance with welding codes and project requirements.
- Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material certifications.
- Identify and document defects, recommend corrective actions, and ensure rework meets standards.
- Maintain detailed inspection records and reports.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and welders to uphold quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification isrequired.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, and inspection methods.
- Experience with applicable codes and standards - ASME, API and AWS codes.
- Prior experience in fossil, oil,gasand/or fabrication oversite.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, isometrics, P&IDand welding symbols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel, and Adobe.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, and lifting < 50 lbs.
