Seven Healthcare are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician for an exciting travel assignment at a large, busy, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center in Bethpage, NY. This facility provides sterile processing services to multiple facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers, along with emergency services for the area.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician:

• Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies according to specifications and/or manufacturer instructions and follow department protocols
• Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures
• Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
• Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination
• Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality, identifying malfunctioning items and notifying supervisor or biomedical engineer
• Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels
• Perform required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician:

• Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD) must not expire during the assignment
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years+ of certified experience in a tertiary setting or 1 year of certified experience with 4 years of SPT experience in a tertiary setting
• Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, stand, bend, lift and/or reach for extended periods of time
• Effective communication skills in English (verbally and in writing)
