This role emphasizes real-world experience in manufacturing, mechanical systems, and continuous improvement—not a desk-only internship.Interns will contribute to shop organization (5S), assist with turbocharger rebuild processes, and support alongside experienced technicians and engineers. This aligns with modern manufacturing internships where interns actively improve safety, efficiency, and workflow on the shop floor.Reporting Line: Workshop SupervisorProgram Structure & ResponsibilitiesPhase 1: Shop Organization & 5SConduct shop audit and implement 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)Establish tool organization systems and permanent storage locationsLabel inventory, toolboxes, and work areasSupport epoxy flooring and shop layout improvementsOrganize storage areas and digitize tool inventoryMaintain shop cleanliness and safety standardsComplete initial safety training and CPR/First Aid certificationPhase 2: Turbocharger Shop SupportAssist with disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and reassembly supportShadow technicians and learn rebuild processesSupport workflow, tooling, and layout improvementsContinue shop organization and cleanliness initiativesComplete additional technical and safety trainingFollow safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout, rigging, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirementsYour ResponsibilitiesSupport shop efficiency, organization, and continuous improvement initiativesMaintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workspaceAssist technicians and engineers with mechanical and service tasksParticipate in hands-on shop workFollow all safety protocols and PPE requirementsYour BackgroundPursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering fieldStrong interest in hands-on, mechanical workAbility to work in shop environmentStrong work ethic, attention to detail, and initiativeAbility to follow safety procedures and work in a team settingWork EnvironmentWorkshop onlyExposure to industrial equipment and conditionsRequired PPE: steel-toe boots and safety glasses (at all times in shop to be provided)Additional PPE provided as neededWhat You’ll GainHands-on mechanical and manufacturing experienceExposure to real-world engineeringTraining in 5S, safety systems, and continuous improvementMentorship from experienced technicians and engineersOpportunity to contribute to meaningful operational improvementsWe look forward to receiving your application.
