Applications will be processed in rounds with the following cut-off dates: July 9, 2026 July 23, 2026 August 6, 2026 August 20, 2026 Position Summary Under the general direction of the Attorney Supervisor, the Attorney III advises on complex and sensitive legal matters affecting CalVCB and effectively performs the more difficult and complex litigation and investigations, hearings, negotiations, and legal research with minimal supervision, broad discretion, and independence. This position requires a mix of civil and criminal litigation skills and knowledge, oral and written advocacy, interpersonal and negotiation skills, and the ability to apply policy, laws, regulations and CalVCB practices aligned with the Chief Counsel’s direction. Work Arrangement This position provides hybrid telework opportunities, requiring in‑person work at least two days per week, and, beginning July 1, 2026, at least four days per week in alignment with Executive Order N‑22‑25. Conflict‑of‑Interest This position is designated under the Conflict‑of‑Interest Code. The appointee must complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and annually thereafter. Failure to comply may void the appointment. Licensing and Visas This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without a visa by the start date. CalVCB uses E‑Verify. For more information about E‑Verify, see Responsibilities The Attorney III: Provides legal advice on complex litigation and investigations for CalVCB. Conducts hearings, negotiations, and prepares legal research. Utilizes oral and written advocacy skills in presentations and documentation. Interprets policies, regulations, laws, and CalVCB practices. Minimum Requirements Refer to the Class Specification for Minimum Requirements. Desirable Qualifications Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. Ability to develop statistical data and evaluate results. Ability to apply and interpret policies, regulations, and laws. Ability to take and follow verbal or written direction from supervisors. General knowledge of the VCP program to establish goals, identify, and resolve issues. General knowledge of legislative processes to analyze proposed legislation affecting the department. General knowledge of the department’s mission, goals, and policies to ensure alignment of work assignments.
