Now Hiring: Structural Fitter Build, Fit, and Fabricate with Precision

Openwork is hiring an experienced Structural Fitter for a manufacturing operation in Houston, TX 77064 . This is a hands-on opportunity for a skilled fitter who can work from blueprints and detailed engineering drawings to fabricate, fit, and assemble structural steel components.

Candidates with strong structural fitting and welding experience who take pride in accuracy, quality, and safety are encouraged to apply. The position is classified as safety-sensitive and reports to the Fabrication Supervisor.

Location: Houston, TX 77064
Pay: $20.00$23.00 per hour | Weekly Pay
Experienced Welder-Fitters: Up to $28.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: MondayFriday | 7:30 AM3:30 PM
Overtime: As needed
Shift: 1st Shift

• Fabricate, fit, and assemble structural steel and metal components
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job travelers
• Identify, cut, prepare, deburr, lay out, position, align, fit, and weld parts
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld , heat-bend, grind, or bolt components into position
• Follow welding procedures, including GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW
• Inspect work for defects and verify finished components meet specifications
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding to prevent warping, shrinking, or distortion
• Identify defective materials or equipment and report concerns
• Follow material traceability procedures
• Move and position parts using hoists and cranes
• Follow all company safety and quality procedures

• 27 years of structural fitting/welding experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of structural fitting and tack-welding procedures
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and weld symbols
• Experience with welding tools, equipment, jigs, and fixtures
• Experience with gas welding and cutting equipment
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead beam cranes, and jib cranes
• Ability to work effectively with assigned helpers
• Certified Welder is a plus
• Trade school or Vo-Tech background
• Required personal tools
• Strong safety awareness and consistent use of required PPE

• Non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility
• Industrial noise requiring participation in a hearing conservation program
• Ability to lift 2550 pounds
• Ability to walk, sit, stand, communicate, and remain active throughout the scheduled shift
• Ability to work overtime when necessary
• Required welding hood and company-issued PPE while welding

• $20.00$23.00 per hour
• Up to $28.00 per hour for experienced Welder-Fitters
