Senior Avionics Engineer

Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Senior Avionics Engineer for one of our start‑up clients in Playa Vista, CA. As a Senior Avionics Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture and implementation of core avionics elements for our client’s next‑generation vehicles. This role requires a highly motivated engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, can execute with autonomy, and understands the full lifecycle of avionics hardware from early concept through flight. This is a hardware‑focused avionics role with strong emphasis on PCB design, embedded systems, integration, qualification, and test. The ideal candidate has been through every phase of spacecraft or aerospace hardware development: design, build, test, integration, qualification, and delivery of flight‑ready hardware. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Own avionics hardware from concept through flight, including architecture, design, PCB development, build support, testing, integration, and qualification. Work across the full vehicle development lifecycle and identify when design, build, test, or integration efforts are not progressing according to plan. Develop and support PCB designs, embedded systems, harnessing, and avionics hardware builds for next‑generation reentry vehicles. Collaborate closely with the Director of Engineering, Avionics, and partner with propulsion, guidance and control, thermal, software, and manufacturing teams. Lead design reviews, trade studies, test planning, troubleshooting, and technical documentation to support high‑reliability deliverables. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop complete avionics systems, including architecture, design, integration, and verification, from initial concept through delivery of qualified hardware. Lead the technical execution of avionics hardware builds, including PCB design, harnessing, embedded systems, and environmental qualification. Collaborate with propulsion, guidance and control, thermal, and software teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of avionics systems. Develop, lead, and own digital, analog, and mixed‑signal circuit board designs. Implement robust design and test processes that ensure reliability and safety of avionics designs. Qualify designs through environmental testing, including vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and thermal vacuum testing. Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage component selection, testing, and delivery schedules. Lead and present trade studies to shape architecture and design decisions. Maintain accurate design documentation, test plans, and reports with strong communication and organizational discipline.
