Role: Farm Hand 

Reports To: Facilities and Maintenance Manager 

Schedule: 40 hours per week 

Position Overview

This role is ideal for a self-starter who notices when something needs attention and takes pride in creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for our team. 

The Farm Hand performs a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks as directed by management. This individual should be able to assess when outside expertise is needed, discuss recommendations with management, and work alongside contractors by coordinating schedules, answering questions, and helping ensure projects are completed successfully. 

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct regular, comprehensive inspections of building structures, mechanical systems, fencing, gating, and outdoor areas, to detect maintenance needs early, preventing costly repairs and ensuring safety and compliance. 
• Small equipment maintenance. 
• Maintain and clean barn lots. 
• Deliver daily herd health support, including haying and watering. 
• Maintain tools, supplies, and work areas are in clean, organized, and safe manner. 
• Support facility improvement projects and specialty projects as the business needs. 
• Mowing, landscaping, snow removal. 
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing HVAC filters, and completing seasonal upkeep. 
• Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing issues, including leaks, clogged drains, and malfunctioning fixtures. 
• Address minor electrical repairs and coordinate with licensed electricians when more advanced work is required. 
• Complete painting, patching, and general building repairs to maintain a clean and professional appearance. 
• Assist with weather-related preparations and repairs, including maintaining weather stripping, insulation, and exterior building conditions. 
• Respond to employee maintenance requests in a timely and helpful manner. 
• Notify management when replacement parts, supplies, or outside services are needed. 
• Document completed work, update maintenance logs, and communicate the status of ongoing projects. 
• Follow company safety policies and promote a safe working environment for all employees. 
• You may be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.

• Comfortable working outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
